Hunting Game only works if players can trust each other. These are the rules. They are part of the Terms of Service.

The short version

Play fair. Be decent. Put nobody in danger. Never misuse anyone's location.

Be safe, and keep others safe

  • You choose where you play, and you are responsible for your own safety. Pick a place where you are allowed to be.
  • Never play while driving or cycling, or while doing anything else that needs your attention.
  • Do not trespass, go onto private property, climb what you should not climb, or break the law to win. That includes hiding places in Hide and Seek.
  • Do not play in dangerous places: roads, railways, water, building sites, or anywhere you are not allowed to be.
  • Catch with the code in the app, not with your hands. Never tackle, push, grab or trip anyone.
  • Leave people who are not playing alone. Never chase, grab or scare a stranger.
  • Do not draw a play zone that sends players into an unsafe place, and do not push anyone into any of the above.
  • If someone gets hurt or is in danger, stop playing and help. Call the emergency services if needed (112 in Europe).

Respect other people

Do not:

  • harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone;
  • send abusive, hateful or discriminatory messages, including about someone's race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation;
  • send sexual content, and never anything sexual involving a minor;
  • share anyone's personal information without their agreement, including their location, address, phone number or photos;
  • pretend to be another player, or to be connected to Hunting Game;
  • use a display name or profile photo that is abusive, hateful or sexual, or that copies someone else.

Never misuse location

Location is the whole game, and it is also what can hurt someone.

  • Do not use Hunting Game to track, follow or find someone who does not want you to.
  • Do not join or watch a game to learn about a player instead of to play.
  • Do not share another player's position, a screenshot of the map, or a game's join code with anyone outside your group. Showing the game on a screen for your group is fine when the players know about it.
  • Do not use what you learn in a game to contact, follow or turn up on someone in real life.

Play fair

Do not:

  • fake or spoof your GPS position;
  • use bots, scripts or modified apps;
  • exploit bugs, timing or cooldowns instead of reporting them;
  • get around Pro, or share an account to do so;
  • use a friend code or link for anything other than being someone's friend;
  • attack, probe or overload Hunting Game or its servers, or try to get in without permission.

Found a bug or a security problem? Tell us at contact@hunting-game.com, or with Send feedback in Settings. We would much rather hear it from you.

In your own game

In the lobby, the host can remove a player, and that account can't join that game again. During a game, a referee can remove a player. Use that to keep your game safe and fair, not to bully anyone.

If someone you don't know joins your lobby, the host should leave the lobby, which closes it for everyone, and start a new game with a new code, shared only with people you know. Removing them stops that account from joining, but not from watching the game on our website with the old code. If someone makes you uncomfortable, leave the game; you can remove a friend at any time in the app.

Reporting

There is no report button in the app yet. Email contact@hunting-game.com with "Report" in the subject. Include the game's join code, roughly when it happened, the display name involved, and what you saw. A screenshot helps. Section 7 of the Terms of Service explains what happens next.

If someone is in immediate danger, call the emergency services first.

What happens if you break these rules

We act in proportion to what happened, and take into account whether it was the first time:

  1. A warning, for something minor or a first mistake.
  2. Removing content: a display name or profile photo is reset.
  3. Closing the account, for serious harm or repeated breaches.

Some things go straight to closing the account: anything sexual involving a minor, credible threats of violence, and using the game to stalk someone. We also report these to the authorities where the law requires or allows it.

We always tell you what we did and why, and you can ask us to look again, free of charge. Section 7 of the Terms of Service explains how.
